About
What this site is, and what it deliberately is not.
This used to be a WordPress blog. I stopped writing posts years ago, but I never stopped travelling — so the site became a list of links and not much else. This is the replacement: a travel log, nothing more.
What is here
Every trip I have a record of, back to 2013, grouped by year. Each entry carries the place, the country, the month and the coordinates. Where there are photos, there is a link to the album. Where I had something to say, there is a note.
The map holds every marker I have ever dropped — considerably more than there are entries, because a single trip usually means a dozen places.
What is not here
No comments. No newsletter. No cookie banner, because there are no cookies. No tracking pixels, no embedded social widgets, no advertising, no analytics service. The site only counts how often each page is opened and, when the browser passes it along, the name of the website a visit came from (google.com, never the full address) — nothing about who opened it is stored. The page you are reading loads from one server and nothing else, apart from the map tiles on the map page.
How it is built
Hand-written PHP over flat text files — one file per trip. No database, no content management system, no build step, no JavaScript framework. The world map in the header is not an image: it is about nine kilobytes of text, drawn from public coastline data and rendered as characters.
If something looks broken, it probably is. Write to me.
